At the sight of the photos, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia for my school days in Methodist College. Six years have elapsed in a blink of an eye, and I am eternally grateful for the education that I have received in my alma mater.
Our school has always been placing a huge emphasis on holistic education, from imparting knowledge to cultivating positive values and virtues. With various opportunities being provided, it unleashes our potential, pushes our boundaries and allows us to have a wider breadth of experience. During my six years at the college, I had ample opportunities in performing and competing on stage, be it local or international, such as the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival and the Tokyo International Choir Competition. Besides piano and choir competitions, I also had band performances in the Variety Show and Talent Quest. What’s more, my English proficiency has been enhanced by joining activities like the English Drama Team and being an emcee. Such marvelous opportunities have ignited my fervor in Music and English, broadened my exposure, and transformed me into a person with more self-confidence, when I used to be shy and not daring to pluck up the courage to take on arduous challenges. It undoubtedly helped me to be prepared, before venturing into the grown-up world.
Beyond question, Methodist College is a place where interpersonal relationships are initiated, where bonds are galvanized, and where lasting friendships are forged. I can still vividly remember those times when my schoolmates and I celebrated each other’s birthday, cheered for every achievement made, fought for the DSE together and helped each other unconditionally. In addition to schoolmates, the teachers played a significant role throughout my secondary school life. Owing to the ongoing pandemic, we had lessons online. Our teachers spared no effort to provide their best support, hoping us to learn better and keep the ill effects of online learning to the minimum. The support of teachers and schoolmates was my driving force to strive for excellence in examinations.
Thanks to Methodist College, I could savour the joy of a fruitful school life. There is no exaggeration in saying that Methodist College is my second home, which is indeed a school beloved by all.
