It is my pleasure to learn and grow in Methodist College, our big family filled with love. Not only can we enjoy the caring and warm atmosphere, but we can also enhance our academic knowledge, as well as improve our whole-person development.
One is never alone in facing difficulties. Studying at a CMI school in Forms 1&2, I joined Methodist College in Form 3, I was worried at the beginning—could I make new friends here? Could I adapt to this EMI school? Finally, I found that I had worried too much. On the first school day, once my classmates saw me, they welcomed me enthusiastically. They were willing to introduce the school facilities to me, as well as inviting me to have lunch together! What’s more, teachers considerately asked me if I could understand well after lessons. This enabled me to adapt to an EMI school in no time.
Other than the atmosphere, teachers help us enhance our academic knowledge unreservedly and wholeheartedly. When teachers return the marked tests to us, they will give constructive and detailed feedback. On one hand, they show their appreciation of our improvement, encouraging us to keep working hard. On the other hand, teachers honestly tell us our areas for improvement and how we can perform better next time, so as to increase our standard continuously. After lessons, if we still have questions and doubts, we can always approach teachers, as they are willing to explain to us patiently and thoroughly. This, therefore, enables us to learn effectively.
Aside from mental support, we can develop ourselves through participating in an array of extra-curricular activities, which promotes whole-person education. Being the Head Prefect of the school, which I am honored to do, I have developed leadership and interpersonal skills through different events. To illustrate, I was involved in preparing the games stalls of the prefects’ board with other prefects on Founders’ Day. I have also learnt how to solve sudden problems calmly and teach prefects modest during my everyday duties. I believe that being the Head Prefect has shaped me to be a mature, confident and cool-headed person, which can surely help me in university and the workplace.
We should not take anything for granted: the caring and warm atmosphere, effective learning of academic knowledge and our whole person development are what I feel grateful from our beloved alma mater. Studying here leaves me with precious and unforgettable memories. Thank you for offering me such an exhilarating and blissful secondary school life!
