Methodist College will always be the place where I thrive, a place where my roots are embedded and where my core memories remain. I am truly thankful and glad to be a part of Methodist College.
It began with me applying for a place here after an untoward SSPA result. Fortunately, as it turned out to be, I was given an opportunity to study here at 50 Gascoigne Road - a decision that would forever shape and alter my life. I am eternally grateful that I was given this lifeline 6 years ago.
I had a chance to partake in a multitude of ECAs and adhere to my interests. The Orchestra, Football Team and the Robotics Team were places where I found my interests, and where I was eager to invest time in. I could rejoice, be myself and learn among cohorts with common passions and goals. I was provided with the chances here and a pathway which I was eager to invest in, not only in school activities, but also from an academic standpoint. Guidance from teachers allowed me to see the fascination with and give meaning to what studying a certain subject is about, or why it was important. I vehemently believe that a sense of direction and the fondness to learn is something that MC has bestowed on me, for which I am earnestly grateful. I wish that everyone in this school will experience it, and to find their own directions in which we relish even in numerous adversities.
The pandemic started when I was in Form 4, and the fifth wave wreaked havoc 2 years later. As quoted: what started in chaos, ends with another one. Everything went into disarray. If every cloud has a silver lining, I am sure that the silver lining at the time was the camaraderie and incessant assistance from the school. I am fortunate to have the support to graduate during the ordeals, and I am happy to see a lot of things coming to fruition. These results could only be emblazoned by experiences with others under arduous situations. It doesn't matter how many burdens are ahead, once overcoming them we will find these experiences to be exceedingly fruitful memories. Add oil MCers!
I flourished under the nourishment of teachers, staff and classmates. After spending 6 years here, it became unequivocal that the most important lessons are not based on academic results. Friendships, soft or social skills, targets in life and memories are all the most irreplaceable and indispensable components in my secondary school life.
Methodist College will be the place where I have found my true calling card, where I would like to call my second home. Thank you for everything.
